Step-by-step launch for Flamingo in Rust. This build needs more preparation than the vendor's other products: it has its own loader, and once it prepares the system with a reboot. Before that you have to enter the BIOS, reset the settings to defaults and turn Secure Boot off.
Requirements
- Windows 10 all builds or Windows 11 up to 25H2 (x64)
- Rust from Steam
- Access to BIOS/UEFI — settings must be reset and Secure Boot turned off
- An Intel or AMD CPU, an Nvidia or AMD GPU
- Administrator rights on the computer
System requirements
Preparation
Remove third-party antivirus and anti-cheats Kaspersky, Avast, ESET and the like, plus FaceIT and Riot Vanguard, conflict with the loader. They must be uninstalled, not just paused.
-
Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Control Panel → Programs and Features).
-
Uninstall any third-party antivirus (Kaspersky, Avast, AVG, ESET, 360, Malwarebytes, etc.). Pausing or disabling is not enough — the antivirus driver stays resident.
-
Uninstall the FaceIT AC and Riot Vanguard anti-cheats if present — they block third-party software at the kernel level.
- FaceIT is the CS2 anti-cheat, Vanguard is the Valorant one. If you don't play those games, they are safe to remove.
After removing an antivirus, restart the PC — some of its services only unload after a reboot.
Fully disable Windows Defender The #1 cause of "it won't launch". Disable it for real: manually first, then remove it from startup, reboot, and finish it off with Defender Control.
-
Step 1. Turn protection off by hand. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings and switch every toggle off:
- Real-time protection — Off.
- Cloud-delivered protection — Off.
- Automatic sample submission — Off.
- Tamper Protection — Off. Turn this one off first, otherwise the others switch themselves back on.
-
Step 2. Disable reputation-based protection. In Windows Security → App & browser control → Reputation-based protection → Settings, turn everything off (SmartScreen, potentially-unwanted-app blocking).
-
Step 3. Remove Defender from startup. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) → Startup apps tab, find Windows Security notification icon and click Disable.
-
Step 4. Restart your computer. This is mandatory — some Defender services only unload after a reboot.
-
Step 5. Finish with Defender Control. Download Defender Control (archive password: r1xon), run it as administrator and click Disable Windows Defender — the tile turns red.
- If your antivirus deletes the utility itself, protection is still active — go back to step 1. The file ships zipped on purpose so Defender can't wipe it before it's disabled.
Don't skip steps 3–4. "I turned the toggles off but it didn't help" almost always means Defender came back after restart because it was left in startup.
Disable Core Isolation Memory Integrity blocks the driver from loading. Takes a minute to switch off.
-
Open Windows Security → Device security → Core isolation details.
-
Turn off Memory Integrity and restart the PC.
Disable Secure Boot Secure Boot stops the loader from starting. Check the status first, then disable it in BIOS if needed.
-
Check the status: press Win+R, type msinfo32, and in System Summary find Secure Boot State. If it reads Off or Unsupported — you're set, skip the rest.
-
If it's On — enter BIOS/UEFI (tap Del, F2 or F10 while the PC boots — depends on the motherboard).
-
Find Boot or Security → Secure Boot and set it to Disabled. Save (usually F10) and reboot.
- If Secure Boot is greyed out, set a Supervisor Password under Security first — that unlocks the option. You can remove the password afterwards.
-
Remove antiviruses and anticheats — Vanguard, FACEIT and similar
-
Turn off real-time protection in Windows Defender
-
Turn off core isolation
-
On Windows 11 disable the vulnerable driver blocklist: `Win + R` → `regedit` → `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CI\Config`, set `VulnerableDriverBlocklistEnable` to `0` (create it as a DWORD (32-bit) if missing)
-
Enter the BIOS, reset the settings to defaults, turn Secure Boot off and save
Launch
-
Download the loader — download from Yandex Disk (if the link does not open, use a VPN)
-
Run the loader as administrator and enter your key
-
Press Prepare System — the computer will reboot
-
After the reboot run the loader again. If it says System is ready, pick Rust and press Launch
Problems & fixes
It still says System is not ready after Prepare System and the reboot
The prepared boot entry was not picked up on its own — choose it by hand:
• Press Prepare System again and let the PC restart
• The moment the screen goes black, start tapping the Boot Menu key — about once a second, until the device list appears
• The key depends on the board or laptop. Usually it is F11 on MSI and ASRock, F8 on ASUS, F12 on Gigabyte, Lenovo, Dell and Acer, F9 on HP. Laptops sometimes need it together with Fn
• In the list pick the device whose name is a random string of letters and digits — that is the loader's prepared entry
• If you cannot catch the key, open the same menu from Windows: hold Shift, click Restart in the power menu, then Use a device
After booting this way the loader says System is ready.
The loader does not start or closes immediately
Check the preparation: remove third-party antiviruses, fully disable Windows Defender, core isolation and the driver blocklist, install Visual C++ and DirectX, then restart the PC
Prepare System does not go through, the PC boots as usual
Usually Secure Boot or modified BIOS settings are in the way. Reset the BIOS to defaults, turn Secure Boot off, save and try again
The key is rejected
Copy the key without spaces at the edges, check the keyboard layout and make sure the key was issued for Rust [ Flamingo ]
Advanced setup — only if it still won’t launch
Use a VPN for download and activation CIS ISPs often block the activation servers. A VPN is needed while downloading the loader, activating the key and injecting — you can turn it off before joining a match.
-
Use a full VPN (an app that routes all traffic), not a browser proxy, VLESS or extension — half the support tickets come from exactly this.
-
Turn the VPN on before downloading the loader and activating the key. If something won't load, switch country (Europe or the US usually work).
-
After a successful inject you can turn the VPN off before the match to avoid extra ping.
A VPN fixes most endless-loading and "key won't activate" problems.
Update Visual C++ and DirectX Up-to-date runtimes keep the loader and overlay from crashing at start.
-
Install Visual C++ Redistributable x64 and restart the PC.
-
Update DirectX if you haven't in a while.
Disk in GPT layout If the loader says "Unsupported firmware", the system disk is MBR and needs converting to GPT.
-
Check the layout: Win+R → diskmgmt.msc, right-click the system disk → Properties → Volumes → Partition style. It should read GUID (GPT).
-
If it's MBR, convert without data loss: admin Command Prompt, run mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullOS. After converting, switch the BIOS boot mode to UEFI.
Back up anything important before converting. It usually goes smoothly, but a disk is a disk.
FAQ
Why does Rust have its own loader and a system preparation step?
Rust uses a different anticheat and the build loads before Windows. Hence the BIOS reset, Secure Boot off and the Prepare System step with a reboot. It is done once, after that the launch is ordinary
Is a spoofer included?
No, the build has no built-in spoofer and gives no ban protection. If your hardware is already banned, buy a HWID spoofer separately
Still stuck?
Run R1XON Checker first — it pinpoints most launch problems in 30 seconds. If it still fails, attach the checker report to your support ticket and we’ll sort it out fast.
