Xernel setup for DayZ
Xernel starts from its own launcher BEFORE the game. System preparation is done once; after that you only need the launcher and your key.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or 11 (x64)
- DayZ installed and launched at least once
- NVIDIA GeForce Experience or AMD Radeon Software game overlay installed and enabled
- Administrator rights on the PC

Preparation
Remove third-party antivirus and anti-cheats Kaspersky, Avast, ESET and the like, plus FaceIT and Riot Vanguard, conflict with the loader. They must be uninstalled, not just paused.

Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Control Panel → Programs and Features).

Uninstall any third-party antivirus (Kaspersky, Avast, AVG, ESET, 360, Malwarebytes, etc.). Pausing or disabling is not enough — the antivirus driver stays resident.

Uninstall the FaceIT AC and Riot Vanguard anti-cheats if present — they block third-party software at the kernel level.
- FaceIT is the CS2 anti-cheat, Vanguard is the Valorant one. If you don't play those games, they are safe to remove.
After removing an antivirus, restart the PC — some of its services only unload after a reboot.
Fully disable Windows Defender The #1 cause of "it won't launch". Disable it for real: manually first, then remove it from startup, reboot, and finish it off with Defender Control.

Step 1. Turn protection off by hand. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings and switch every toggle off:
- Real-time protection — Off.
- Cloud-delivered protection — Off.
- Automatic sample submission — Off.
- Tamper Protection — Off. Turn this one off first, otherwise the others switch themselves back on.

Step 2. Disable reputation-based protection. In Windows Security → App & browser control → Reputation-based protection → Settings, turn everything off (SmartScreen, potentially-unwanted-app blocking).

Step 3. Remove Defender from startup. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) → Startup apps tab, find Windows Security notification icon and click Disable.

Step 4. Restart your computer. This is mandatory — some Defender services only unload after a reboot.

Step 5. Finish with Defender Control. Download Defender Control (archive password: r1xon), run it as administrator and click Disable Windows Defender — the tile turns red.
- If your antivirus deletes the utility itself, protection is still active — go back to step 1. The file ships zipped on purpose so Defender can't wipe it before it's disabled.
Don't skip steps 3–4. "I turned the toggles off but it didn't help" almost always means Defender came back after restart because it was left in startup.

Open the download page — download Xernel Launcher. Enter your license key and wait: the download starts on its own in a few seconds, otherwise click Manual Download

Move the launcher from `Downloads` to a separate folder, for example `C:\XERNEL\`

Open `cmd` as administrator and run the whole command — it turns off core isolation, the vulnerable driver blocklist and VBS:

Enable the game overlay: NVIDIA GeForce Experience → Game Overlay, or AMD Radeon Software → Overlay

Restart the PC: `Win + R`, enter `shutdown /r /t 0` and press Enter
Launch

Close DayZ. The product does not start over a running game

Run the launcher as administrator

In the License activation window enter your key and click Activate

In the main menu pick DayZ and click Launch. A log window opens — that is expected

Wait for the Waiting for window message in the log window — the launcher is waiting for the game window

Start DayZ through Steam

Once DayZ has loaded, open the product menu with Delete
Problems & fixes
The launcher does not download
• Check your connection and turn off VPN
• Clear the browser cache (`Ctrl + Shift + Delete`)
• Try another browser and disable the ad blocker
• Check that your key is still active
"Invalid license key"
Copy the key in full with no spaces around it and check that it has not expired. A restart and a second activation attempt usually helps. If the key was bought long ago, write to us and we will check it.
The antivirus keeps blocking the launcher
Turn off ALL antiviruses including Windows Defender, add the launcher folder to exclusions and restart. Check that real-time protection is really off, not just minimized to the tray.
The game does not start after OK
• Make sure DayZ is installed and starts normally
• Check free disk space
• Check that the game overlay is enabled
• Restart and repeat the launch from the very beginning
Black screen in game
Enable the game overlay, update the GPU driver and close screen recording software — OBS, Bandicam and similar.
The launcher hangs on the authorization logs
Usually it is the network: turn off VPN, restart, try another connection — mobile internet, for example. If it repeats, delete the launcher files and install it again.
Low FPS or stutters
Close unnecessary programs, check Task Manager for heavy processes, update the GPU driver, lower graphics to Low and look at temperatures — overheating looks the same.
FAQ
Which key opens the menu?
The menu opens with Delete — inside the loaded game, in the main menu or in a match.
Do I need to repeat the system preparation every time?
No. The registry command and the overlay are set up once. After that the routine is: launcher → key → DayZ → Waiting for window → start the game.
Why is a game overlay needed?
The product draws its menu and ESP over the game through it. Without an enabled NVIDIA or AMD overlay part of the drawing simply will not appear.
How do I turn the Windows protections back on?
Run the same command in `cmd` as administrator with `1` instead of `0`:

Can I start the product when the game is already running?
No. Fully close DayZ first, start the launcher and open the game only once it says Waiting for window.
I do not see the Manual Download button
The file is most likely already downloading — check the `Downloads` folder. If not, clear the browser cache, disable the ad blocker and try another browser.
Do I need to disable Defender if I have another antivirus?
Yes, disable both. Defender and a third-party antivirus conflict with the product even together.
